On the topic of the History of the relationship between Science and Religion
In response to Tony/James' latest posts, I personally find it quite difficult to choose either one or the other, i.e. trying to accept that the new, 'contemporary' religions are the more appropriate belief systems for our time, or trying to maintain the long-established beliefs of the more 'traditional' religions.
And like James, I'm also of the opinion that it's difficult to be conclusive on a topic like this - perhaps today's religious person needs to be able to strike the right balance between old and new, possibly by appreciating the 'old-school' values for they are (or were) worth, while also taking the majority of their faith in new principles that have been created or reformed to suit today's modern society.
