I feel rather stressed these days. When I think about why, I can break it down to a few things:
- There are too many thoughts flying around in my mind. Not only that, but I also feel incapable of organising or utilising (i.e. taking action on) any of them.
- I feel as though I have responsibilities owing to other people, but I feel like I don't have the time to fulfill those duties. This is inextricably linked to the above point.
- I can't sit down and study for my exams like a good uni student. Procrastination is unimaginably excessive. This is, of course, a key catalyst for the aforementioned points.
Facts of life (at present):
- I enjoy listening to music.
- I need to study.
My unfortunate problem:
- I can't listen to music and study at the same time, as the music distracts my brain cells and makes them travel in all different directions. Here I am also assuming that brain cells can travel (which, in reality, I doubt is the case).
Time to try and hit the books again..

aural pleasures
I've just come across a lot of new music in the last few days. GOOD new music.
When I think of my new acquisitions, I think folk. Not all of it is so, but most of it is folk-ish, and reminds me of old-school sounds.. which is fantastic. It especially suits the weather - cloudy and rainy makes me think Beatles, Sting, Simon and Garfunkel (amongst others).. not all at once, but if I were to draw a timeline between Autumn (on the left) and Winter (on the right), the artists would be placed accordingly (from left to right), Simon & Garfunkel, Beatles, Sting.
Enough ramble. Back to the music I was talking about.
Recent acquisitions (in no particular order.. except alphabetical):
Colbie Caillat: Coco
Duffy: Rockferry
Estelle: Shine
Gnarls Barkley: The Odd Couple
Goldfrapp: Seventh Tree
Idea of North, The: their complete discography - The Idea of North, The Sum of Us, Here and Now, Evidence, The Gospel Project
Joe Satriani: Professor Satchafunkilus and the Musterion of Rock
Jose Gonzalez: In Our Nature
Laura Marling: Alas I Cannot Swim
Yoav: Charmed and Strange
Time to write some music reviews.

beyond reality
So here we are tonight, you and me together, the storm outside, and this fire's bright. Oh, and in your eyes I see what's on my mind - you've got we wild, turned around inside. Oh and this desire, she is creeping up heavy.. Oh, inside you, I know you feel the same way as I do now - let's make this an evening, lovers for a night, lovers for tonight..
Well, wait here with me, oh tonight, just for an evening, oh and together this passionate picture, oh love, roll sweet and blistered - and away here, oh, tomorrow go back to being friends..
No, tomorrow we are friends, but tonight let's be lovers. We'll kiss and sweat, we'll turn this better thing to the best of all we can offer, oh, give it to you, this rogue sin, and leave it all behind. And the way says I offer, oh, one last kiss, one more fingertip, reeling away the while and all will be gone soon. You go your way to your man, and to my world if we can, oh..
Away here with me, oh lover, oh an evening, then to paint this passionate picture, oh twist, sweat, love, a secret creature. Man, all away, just for an evening, oh let's strip down and trip out at this, one evening's love, start with a kiss, soon away, yeah and tomorrow, go back to being friends..
Oh, go back to being friends. Tonight let's be lovers, oh yeah, tonight let's be lovers, say you will, tonight let's be lovers, say you will, tonight let's be lovers..
Oh wait here, please, oh, lover, oh, just one evening. Away the love, too late to say, then, oh tonight let's go all the way then! And away we'll sail, just for an evening. Oh, lover let's strip down, trip out at this, one evening's love start with a kiss.. and away here, love. And tomorrow back to being friends, yeah, oh tonight, lover, love yeah, just for tonight, one night, love yeah, oh..
And tomorrow, say goodbye.. tomorrow, say goodbye.. tomorrow, say goodbye..
