Listening to the Soweto Gospel Choir's Voices From Heaven album makes me re-realise why I fell in love with Africa so deeply.
Not long ago, I believed that we were all African on the inside. Born of the land, with the pulse of the earth coursing through our veins.
As I listen to the opening track, Jikela Emaweni, it's like I'm being reborn.
Like a phoenix rising from its ashes, so my spirit heals, and blooms into the rhythm of the drums.
I am lifted by the choir of voices, away from my fears, my sadnesses, my worries..
This is the refreshment my soul has been thirsting for.
Deep down, we are all children of Africa.
I still believe.
