Just watched The Motorcycle Diaries. What a fantastic film!
It's not just the story behind the name that makes this film a pleasure to watch. Gael Garcia Bernal and Rodrigo de la Serna compliment each other so very well as Ernesto Guevara and Alberto Granado. Their acting is such that I begin to believe they are the real 'Fuser' and 'Mial'; that the film is historically accurate, and that everything in the film actually happened.
Of course, being a film, there is an element of creative license. But being based on a book written by the Guevara, and considering the passion of the director and producers behind the film, The Motorcycle Diaries is a great fusion of fictional and documentary storytelling.
Gael Garcia Bernal's performance as Ernesto Guevara is fantastic. I had trouble sitting still during the scenes where Guevara experiences severe difficulty in breathing, because of his asthma, such was the realistic delivery of Garcia Bernal. His impassioned gaze also adds to the portrayal of Guevara, as you can see in his eyes the depth of the emotion he feels while travelling throughout South America.
Having said that, Rodrigo de la Serna cannot go unmentioned, as I thoroughly enjoyed his performance as a supporting actor to Garcia Bernal. I probably shouldn't even be calling him a supporting actor, since his character Alberto Granado is the one who takes Guevara on the now-famous motorcycle trip. His quick-thinking, bullshitting ways are well juxtaposed against Guevara's honesty, but you still love him because he's always there for Fuser when he's down or in need. A true friend, as womanizing as he may be.
The soundtrack is also well-crafted, and suits the atmosphere of the tale extremely well in my opinion. Gustavo Santaolalla is the brain behind the soundtrack, and he's done such a wonderful job. Haunting melodies and recurring themes bring an extra dimension of depth to the movie experience.
Definitely looking to buy the album, DVD, and book. The Motorcycle Diaries has become an immediate favourite.

nostalgic melodies
Thank you to http://aurgasm.us for introducing me to yamelo.com.
My only criticism is that the site caters primarily to 5 countries, and that doesn't include Oz, so finding gems can be tough.. but nevertheless..

emotion and temperature
..things we can't see, but affect us so much.
The cold days and nights of late have me wondering how many fingers and toes I have at any one time. The coldness also serves as a painful reminder of how many sensitive teeth I have - I can feel them well enough!
Emotions, well.. I think they speak for themselves.

feeling a little flat about myself and the world
I get up in the evening
And I ain't got nothing to say
I come home in the morning
I go to bed feeling the same way
I ain't nothing but tired
I'm just tired and bored with myself
Hey there baby I could use just a little help
You can't start a fire
You can't start a fire without a spark
This gun is for hire
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
Message keeps getting clearer
Radio's on and I'm moving 'round my place
Check my look in the mirror
Wanna change my hair, my clothes, my face
I ain't getting nowhere sleeping in a dump like this
Something happening somewhere
Something happening somewhere
Something happening somewhere
Something happening somewhere
You can't start a fire
You can't start a fire without a spark
This gun is for hire
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
You can't start a fire
Sitting around crying over a broken heart
This gun is for hire
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
You can't start a fire
Worrying about your little world falling apart
This gun is for hire
Even if we're just dancing in the dark
---
If blood will flow, when flesh and steel are one
Drying in the colour of the evening sun
Tomorrow's rain will wash the stains away
But something in our minds will always stay.
Perhaps this final act was meant
To clinch a lifetime's argument
That nothing comes from violence, and nothing ever could
For all those born beneath an angry star
Lest we forget how fragile we are.
On and on, the rain will fall
Like tears from a star, like tears from a star
On and on, the rain will say
How fragile we are, how fragile we are
On and on, the rain will fall
Like tears from a star, like tears from a star
On and on, the rain will say
How fragile we are, how fragile we are
How fragile we are, how fragile we are.

right now..
I love singing. Especially a capella.
I want to watch The Silence of Sleep again.
I haven't played piano properly in a while.
I haven't played the saxophone since 2005.
I miss my musicality.
I miss Sukari Matunda.

minor rant
I am SO sick of being told what to do. And being told repetitively. There is nothing worse than being told the SAME THING TEN TIMES. It doesn't serve any purpose except sheer annoyance, and you end up being less inclined to remember the fact. Grr.
